Required fields?

What are they? Do I need to have contents for them in my recipe?

Understanding what are the required fields for your objects are essential in recipe building. For example, in Quickbooks for an invoice to be created, a customer and a product must exist beforehand. With this in mind, the recipe must have steps before the creation of invoice that deals with such situations.

Before creating an invoice,

  • Check if a customer already exists in QuickBooks. If not, create one.
  • Check if a line already exists in QuickBooks. If not, create one.

Knowing what your prerequisite for creating an object in any applications is very important in planning out your recipe beforehand. This is fundamental approach into the art of creating a robust, foolproof, and reliable recipe for your integration.

For a great example of such recipe, check out this recipe created by WorkatoPM. Take note of step 5 and 6 and step 14 and 15 for the prerequisite of creating an invoice with line items.
