With other similar tools, a custom action can be written in a programming language (Java, Groovy, or JavaScript) so the input data is manipulated in a way that is not possible or not efficient with the provided capabilities.
I realize that Workato has a HTTP Connector but that approach means that I have to host the “special” code in a web container somewhere in the cloud.
The “special” code is not an application but is business logic that needs to be executed on the data within the recipe during the process execution. This logic, while easy to do in a full featured programming language, either cannot be done with the existing actions or it’s not efficient to do so.
Ideally, I would love to have a custom action available that I could configure to execute a Groovy file. This Groovy file would contain the code that manipulates the input data and generates the output data. This processing would be performed without invoking an external system. Other integration tools in my professional history have had this feature and, when needed, was extremely valuable.
