Enable searching of Google Drive subdirectories for new files

I'd like Workato to be able to search not only the specified Google Drive folder, but also all its subdirectories.

Hi Scott, would it be possible to search through the entire Drive instead by leaving out selection of a specific folder? If not, can you share more details about your use case?

I wasn't aware that Workato's Google Drive connection would search the entire drive. Does it do that currently, or are you suggesting that you folks adding that functionality would be easier than attempting to enable monitoring of just the sub-folders within a given folder?

Hi Scott,

If you specify a folder, it narrows down the search to within this folder. Matching files/folders in sub-folders will not be fetched. Leave blank to search through entire Drive. This is also stated in the help text :)

You can search the entire drive as long as you don't specify a folder. However, searching by name is likely to return you a list of results. You need to account for that in your recipe logic.

That's good to know. By "leave blank," do you mean "select 'My Drive'"? Because the pulldown menu when building the trigger says that field is required.

I was referring to the search action and not the trigger. Did you mean you wish to trigger a recipe whenever files are created in subfolders of the specified folder? Can you share more about your use case for this?

To monitor new files created in Google drive, you can create a recipe for each folder you wish to monitor.

I was referring to triggering a recipe. And creating a recipe for each folder I wish to monitor was what I was trying to avoid.
