Modified on: Mon, Nov 21, 2016 at 12:12 AM

Making connections to Workbot

granting Workbot access to your applications

When you are making connection to Workato's Workbot through www.workato.com/workbot-slack, you will be brought to the page as seen below, if you are already logged in to slack. Make sure that this is the team you would like to connect with Workbot and ensure that only 1 person makes the connection to the team.

Granting Workbot access to Slack Team
NOTE: No more than one person should install workbot on their team. Multiple Workbots in a team would lead to duplicate messages

How do I know if my team has Workbot installed already?

To ensure that Workbot has not been installed in your team yet, you can start a direct message and look for Workbot in your team's directory.

If you don't see Workbot in that list, you're free to install it for your team!

But if they do...

You should see this error message on top of your Workato account, which tells you who installed Workbot into your Slack team, and which Workato account is it under

I'm in Workato now. What's next

You should be presented with a list of applications available for you to utilize Workbot with. Choose the applications that you'd like to connect with, and toggle it.

Clicking on it will prompt a new window that requires your input. This is where a few details is needed in order for workbot to authorize API access to your applications based on your specified credentials

Once completed, your application will be toggled to on, and you will be able to start asking Workbot regarding that application.

It's not turning on? What's the matter

Sometimes, you may have created a connection, but the application will not turn on. This is a response towards a few possibilities : A faulty connection, an outdated/expired application login, or quite simply, an actual issue. Feel free to contact support if you face such issues.

Turning on Applications via Slack itself

When installing Workbot for the first time, you will be prompted with a welcome message. There it lists the applications Workbot can currently run with. Simply click on the Connect text, and it will lead you to the Workato page to proceed the connections. Once connected, typing in your application's name will display what Workbot can do for you on Slack.
