Apps which do not already have connectors on Workato can be connected through 3 methods, using the Workato CSV parser, the HTTP Connector, and the Software Development Kit.
Workato's built-in CSV parser (CSV files from Dropbox, Google Sheets, Excel, Force.com, etc.)
Using the CSV parser is really simple. Choose the Utilities app in your recipe's actions, and select the Parse CSV document. Data used by the CSV parser should be in CSV (comma separated values) format. Take this example spreadsheet:
Basically, each row is it's own line, and each cell is separated by commas.
Workato's built-in HTTP Connector
The HTTP Connector allows you to use an apps API directly without much coding knowledge required. Using the HTTP Connector is recommended for users who:
- Are comfortable programming with REST APIs.
- Have fewer use cases (for example, only need to sync a few kinds of records), or need to have recipes up and running as soon as possible.
For more information on how to use the HTTP connector, check out this link here.
Building a new Workato connector using our Software Development Kit
Building a new app connector using Workato's Software Development Kit (SDK) makes connecting with the app much easier. Once a connector is built, users can add the new connector into a recipe just like any other app. You will however require extensive coding knowledge. For more information, check out the Workato Developers page here.
