We're happy to announce the launch of a new V2 HTTP connector! The HTTP connector is a universal connector that allows you to connect to any API endpoints you like, and it is a key part of our platform that enables you to integrate with almost any app under the sun, even if it's not on Workato yet!
The new V2 HTTP connector introduces a 3-step HTTP wizard, which provides a more guided user experience in building HTTP actions. Instead of configuring your HTTP action from scratch, you can send a sample request for Workato to recommend a configuration for you. The V2 HTTP connector also introduces new functionalities that enables you to build and test your HTTP actions more quickly and easily. For a comprehensive look at the new functionalities and benefits of the V2 HTTP wizard, you can check out the blogpost regarding the product launch here.
With the launch of the new HTTP connector, some existing HTTP actions have been marked as deprecated. You can continue to use these actions in your recipe, and it is not necessary to migrate from deprecated V1 HTTP actions to the new V2 HTTP actions as functionality will be maintained. Development support regarding enhancements for deprecated actions will be phased out in the next 3 months and stopped on 30 Sept, 2018. Subsequently, additional development work and enhancements will only be made on the new V2 HTTP connector.
What does this action deprecation mean?
Deprecated HTTP actions will not be visible for use in the connector picklist. You will not be able to select deprecated actions when choosing a new action. Instead, you will see the newer version of the HTTP action, "Send request", available for use.
If you have recipes that are using deprecated actions, however, you can still see and continue using the action in your recipe. You will see that this action has been deprecated via the "Deprecated" tag.
How would this affect me?
If you have no existing HTTP actions, you will not be affected.
If you have existing HTTP triggers or actions, check if they are marked "Deprecated" as follows.
If they are not marked "Deprecated", you will not be affected.
If they are marked "Deprecated", don't worry, they'll still work and you can continue to use them in your recipes. It is not necessary to migrate from deprecated HTTP actions to new V2 actions as existing functionality will be maintained on Workato. Development support for deprecated actions will be phased out in the next 2 months and stopped on 30 Sept, 2018. Subsequently, additional development work and enhancements will only be made on the new V2 HTTP connector.
How do I migrate to the new HTTP actions?
You don't really need to migrate to the new V2 HTTP actions, because your existing V1 HTTP actions will continue to work on Workato. However, if you really wish to, you can copy the configuration from the deprecated action to a new action. There is a direct fields mapping between the 2 actions.
What happens if I don't migrate by 30 Sept, 2018?
It is not necessary to migrate to the new HTTP connector. Deprecated HTTP actions will continue to work on Workato as functionality will be maintained. Workato will still support bug fixes that affect the functionality of these deprecated HTTP actions.
However, deprecated HTTP actions will not have additional development support after 30 Sept, 2018. This means that enhancements made to improve the functionality or user experience will only be carried out on the new HTTP connector.
Where do I find the HTTP (Oauth2) connector?
Previously, there were 2 HTTP connectors, one that supported only OAuth2 connections and one that supported only non-OAuth2 connections. With the new V2 HTTP connector, we have combined all authentication types into one. You will be able to select the authentication type when setting up your HTTP connection:
